Jon Andrew Postert was born to Henry Postert and Alicia Adams on June 7, 1959 in San Antonio, Texas. On August 14, 2020, Jon passed away at the age of 61. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Postert and Alicia Adams and brother, Howard Shane Postert. Jon leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Laura Postert; sons, Jason and Joshua; grandchildren, Jordan, Ashton, Tristan, Dillon and Erin; Siblings, Henry Postert, Diana McKnelly, and Max Schaefer; aunt, Christina Schilling; and numerous other family members and friends.
Jon’s spent a lifetime of hard work. He started out working in construction in which he honed his skills as a drywall technician. He had his own drywall business in which he ran and worked for several years before the building industry started to slow in the mid 80’s. He then found himself working in the corrugated box industry. Jon spent the last 34 years as a machine operator working hard to make one the best corrugated boxes money could buy. Jon would sometimes find himself in a bit of a tiff with his employer over quantity opposed to quality. Jon took great pride in everything that was going to have his name associated with it, so quality was first and foremost for him and nothing else.
Jon was one of the hardest working men many knew and loved. He would say he was, “A jack of all trades, master of none.” Jon would not let anything, or anyone hold him back. He would say, “He never quit anything in his life, and he wasn’t going to quit now.” He too was mechanically inclined, which brought out his passion for his love of his classic cars & trucks. He additionally liked camping, hunting & fishing which gave him the opportunity to perfect his love of barbecuing. Everyone especially liked his smoked briskets. His brother tried to convince him to pull a pit on a trailer for traveling to different race car events and sell his barbecue. He really enjoyed hanging out around his barbecue pit with family & friends, enjoying cold beer & reminiscing about everything old and new.
In Loving Memory
I thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new.
I thought of you yesterday, and days before too.
I think of you in silence, I often speak your name.
All I have are memories, and a picture in a frame.
Your memory’s my keepsake, with which I’ll never part.
God has you in his keeping, I have you in my heart.
